photographik has evolved from a simple directory of wedding and portrait photographers to a genuinely Web 2.0 photographers’ marketing and promotional tool, online community and information-sharing resource.
photographik’s purpose is three-fold. First, we are determined to become THE place to find talented, truly elite photographers providing wedding and portrait photography services to clients in the United States and all over the world. We screen every member’s online portfolio and admit only those photographers who possess a high level of artistic and technical aptitude. By offering the consumer a pre-screened directory of photographers sortable by region and area of expertise, we hope to expose the consumer to top notch photographers in their region as well as highlight the differences between cookie cut photography corporations and talented artists whose work, we feel, is far more compelling and beautiful.
Second, photographik is an online community and knowledge-sharing resource. We not only want to connect photographers with consumers but with other photographers as well. With a nod toward the current trends in social networking, knowledge-sharing sites and online communities, photographik has developed what we think is an industry-changing innovation: Blurbits. Similar to blogs, Blurbits are a directory members-only area where the photographer can create and manage posts that will be viewable and searchable by photographers and the public at large. We believe Blurbits have the potential to impact the industry by spreading awareness, advice and knowledge to photographers, photographer-seekers and anyone else interested in photography.
And third, photographik wants to recognize the most talented photographers in the world by featuring them on our Directory. However, we recognize that talent and skill are often works in progress. To this end, we invite every photographer to join our ranks even if admission to the directory is initially denied. As you know, some directories list anyone and everyone while others screen for quality but do not offer resources for growth and improvement.
With all this said, I want to invite all of our members to help us make photographik the kind of place you love being a part of. photographik is a work in progress and shall remain so. We believe that as the industry continues to change and grow, so must photographik. We encourage you to be a part of our community and let us know your opinions and thoughts. We’re here to serve our members and the photographer-seeking public.
Thank you,
