I recently learned of a very cool thing that a wonderfully talented wedding photographer is doing. Her name is Jessica Claire (I’m sure many of you have heard of her) and she is holding a contest for free wedding photography. The way it works is the entrant has to submit a short essay nominating themselves or their friend or loved one for a complete wedding package. Jessica is including everything in the contest and will even fly anywhere in the country to shoot the wedding on her own dime!
I just finished reading all four of the stories of the finalists and, let me tell you, they are all very deserving. All the couples sound like great people who have dealt with various hardships in their lives. Selecting the winner will be a very difficult decision.
I think what Jessica is doing is very kind and generous. And the funny thing is, I’ll bet she’ll be as blessed by the whole experience as the winning couple.
What are your thoughts on this? Has anyone else done this sort of thing? Wouldn’t it be cool to do something like this for a deserving couple? Or, if you’re a portrait photographer, maybe doing a photo shoot for a couple who can’t afford your services?
Here’s a link to the stories of the finalists:
There’s a lot to read but well worth it. It makes you sort of want to think about how you can “do more” and help out others. Which, quite frankly, is not something I think about enough. Something to work on, I suppose.
If anyone has any thoughts to share on this matter, I’d love to hear them.
