What a beautiful weekend it was!  I had the great fortune of photographing my beautiful and gorgeous couple at the Duke Gardens in near the Duke campus in Durham NC.  While I love NC State and the Arboretum in Raleigh, it just does not compare to the beauty of the Duke Gardens.  Their are countless places to get beautiful photography there and with the weather being so nice, it was packed full of other photographers – mostly taking picture of the gardens, foliage and each other.

As we met up in the Duke Gardens parking lot, we both exclaimed how we could not have asked for a more perfect day for an engagement session.  With both Joanna and Andrew working at local hospitals (Duke & UNC), it was a real treat that everything cooperated so we could get beautiful photographs as their time is limited.  The trees were blooming, the sun was shining and my couple is fantastically happy and in love so the end product is, well, great engagement photography!

Sarah & Troy's engagement photography was done at Yates Mill Pond Park in Raleigh, NC.  Having been here a few times for other photography (engagement sessions, day after wedding photographs, family portraits) projects, I have gotten to know my way around a bit.  My lovely clients were up for anything so we ended up walking around the entire lake, grabbing some great photographs along the way and discovering yet new spots to come back to. 

With it being fall, the skies are a beautiful blue, the trees are full of color and spending an afternoon photographing an equally wonderful wedding client was really why I love this job so much.  Yates Mill Pond is often teeming with photographers with the Mill, Waterfall, huge rock bed you can walk on, the beautiful lake and charming atmosphere so the walk around the lake gave us really unique spots to work in.  Being a photographer makes you naturally curious so I was really overjoyed with being able to explore new places and having awesome clients to work with! 

It seems alot of my wedding clients have evening weddings so it was a wonderful change to get some outdoor photographs using natural light and just a little of my own.  I hope you enjoy a select few choices from Sarah & Troys engagement session photography!
