A Preston Woodall House Wedding is, simply, one of the more unique places to get married in NC.  The house was built in the 1920's and is a beautiful example of Queen Ann architecture in North Carolina.  With the house being fully restored, a wedding ceremony area in the back and a large wedding reception hall (new), weddings here always seem to that that special something which makes the photography absolutely wonderful.  I think its the quality of light they harnessed as electricity wasn't widely used in the at the time the house was built.  Here are a few photos from the wedding and please check out my Raleigh Wedding Photographers blog for more photos.

I have been to quite a few weddings, but it is really difficult to top the beauty of Fearrington Village Weddings.  At the start of Sarah & Troys wedding, the sun was just over the horizon bathing the entire wedding ceremony with a beautiful golden light.  The wedding was held on the grass just outside of the Fearrington Gardens, behind the Fearrington Inn hotel.

After the ceremony and formals, Sarah, Troy and I headed out to the pasture at Fearrington Village to play in the setting sun. Being prepared to shoot into the setting sun, we captured some of my favorite wedding portraits to date.  Something about the setting sun with a wedding couple just makes the whole scene surreal.  After the portraits, we headed back into the barn at Fearrington Village to party down at the wedding reception.

One of my goals this year was to shoot more for myself before the 2010 wedding season arrives. I have been wanting to photograph an urban bridal portrait in Raleigh, NC for some time in an area and situation where I could not worry about getting the wedding dress dirty or producing results for a paying client. Raleigh Wedding Photographers have some advantages by having an urban area close by and with quite a few wedding dresses that I own, the concept began to grow.  The other thing it gives me is an awesome wedding clientele that will come out to make the shoot "real" instead of having a model to work with.

I asked Joanna, a future wedding client of mine, to come out for this and she readily agreed (Thanks Joanna, you rock!) as it was an opportunity to have some fun and photograph what we wanted. As this was more for me then Joanna, I decided early on that an Urban Bridal Portrait was just what I was wanting to do. Locating a warehouse in Raleigh was a little more difficult but a friend came through for me and found one with access to do it in. All I can say is, I want, really want, to do this more often as we both had an absolute blast with it! Joanna brought out her Jimmy Choos to spice up the bridal portrait and, with the dress and a lovely wedding client, well the results were awesome!
