Rock Barn Wedding - Statesville, NC - 05/22/10 11:07 PM
Something I really love about being a wedding photographer is getting to visit places ordinarily you would never see.  This week I traveled to Statesville, NC to photograph Kristin & Todd's Rock Barn Wedding.  Having never been here before, I was really looking forward to both the trip and photographing a new place.  While Statesville isn't considered a destination wedding location, the same principles apply - get there early, take a look around and bring backups of your backups.  Having photographed Kristin twice before in her bridal portrait and engagement sessions, it was great to see her & Todd again for the wedding.  Please enjoy a few photos from their big day!

Duke Chapel Wedding - 05/20/10 10:18 PM
Well, I wanted to start  off the 2010 wedding photography season with a   bang, and starting it  with a Duke Chapel  Wedding  and a reception at the Washington  Duke Inn was certainly a   great start!  It all started quite a few  months ago with, of all   things, a wrong #.  Elizabeth had called me  looking for wedding hair & makeup, not wedding photography. Of  course, I don't offer   this service (my wife does), but somehow our  numbers had gotten transposed on a vendor list, so, she got me  instead.    I was a bit out of my element when she asked for Ginger on  my phone  so  when I found out she needed wedding day hair &  makeup, I  gladly gave  her Ginger's phone number.  Now, for those that  know me, or  read my  blog, you know I am a quite a smart alec at times,  ok, most of  the  time...  So of course I asked her if she needed a  wedding  photographer  as well.   She did..  and, well, the rest is  history.  I  can now say,  however, that I booked a wedding client from a  wrong  number, and it's  the truth!  :)

Here are a few photos from their wedding day!

Umstead Hotel Wedding - 05/14/10 10:58 AM
I had another beautiful outdoor Umstead Hotel Wedding this past weekend.  Ryan & Renee chose to have a very intimate affair with only 12 people, including them for their outdoor wedding.  With so few people, we had plenty of time to walk around the lake after the wedding ceremony and get some awesome wedding day portraits of the happy couple.  You can read more about their wedding and see more photos on my Raleigh Wedding Photographers blog.

Barn at Valhalla Wedding - 05/08/10 11:09 AM
It's been a wonderful year for weddings so far and I've been getting to places I have never been before, which I always love!  This week I had a Barn at Valhalla wedding in Chapel Hill, NC with Stacey & Jeremy.  Having never been here before I was certainly excited when I arrived and I can honestly say, I was not disappointed.  The entire complex is very tastefully done and perfect for a rustic wedding.  With elevated decks & walkways, a gazebo on the water and a beautiful barn to hold the wedding reception in, the setting really was perfect for a wedding.  Here are a few select photos from the day.  Please visit my Raleigh Wedding Photographers blog to see more!

Bald Head Island, NC Wedding | BHI Club - 05/08/10 10:03 AM

To close out the final wedding client of September, I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph my first  Bald Head Island, NC Wedding. Just south of Wilmington, Bald Head Island, NC is accessible only by ferry and once on the island, the only mode of transportation available to most people are golf carts. Having never been to Bald Head Island, despite living in Raleigh almost my entire life, I was, of course, very excited.  When I initially met Matt & Jenn, they talked about having a wedding on the beach, just outside the Captain Charlie House and their reception at the BHI Club (Bald Head Island Club).  To say it was a great wedding is a true understatement.

When I arrived on Bald Head Island, NC it struck me both how quiet and slightly surreal it is. No cars, no bridges, just an island. What a perfect setting for a wedding! I met up with the happy couple on Friday evening at the Shoals Club to photograph their rehearsal dinner, meet their family, friends and just to hang out a bit. After loosing my golf cart (they all look alike you know) I finally made it back to my house and got prepared for the big wedding day.

Umstead Wedding | Raleigh Wedding Photographer | Christy + Charles - 05/01/10 11:30 PM
I had a beautiful Umstead Wedding at the Umstead Hotel located in Cary, NC.  If you are not familiar with the Umstead, it is a 5 star hotel that provides unparalled service.  An Umstead Wedding is certainly a treat to photograph and I was thrilled and honored Christy and Charles chose me as their wedding photographer.

The day, however, didn't want to cooperate as the skies were threatening and just as we got ready to start the wedding ceremony, a very light rain started coming down.  Both Christy and Charles really wanted an outdoor ceremony so Charles made the call and off we went!  Our officiant did speed read the ceremony and after dodging a few early raindrops, mother nature knew she was beat and relented so we enjoyed a beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony with no rain.

After the ceremony, we walked around the grounds of the Umstead Hotel to grab some shots of the happy couple using the beautiful scenary as a backdrop for their wedding photography.  Again, an Umstead Wedding REALLY does have it all!  Once we finished up an headed inside, the Stone Age Romeos cranked it up and got all their friends and family jumping!  See below for a few photos or find more wedding photography from Brian Mullins, a Raleigh Wedding Photographer, on his website.
