I have to say I’m a pretty lucky guy. I have a great wife, wonderful children and a dream job.
I’ll skip over the first couple because you didn’t sign on to my page to read a love poem to my wife or have me bore you with stories of how brilliant my children are. That leaves my other passion, photography.
Wedding photography is everything I always wanted in a career. In addtion to the day-to-day challenges of running a business, I also get the incredible creative challenge of making beautiful images of a wedding while always keeping things fresh, innovative and unique.
The most common question I get from people is why I want to photograph weddings. To start with I truly do love the romance, passion and bubbling excitement of a wedding and every wedding is like a reaffirmation and celebration of how I feel about my own wife, Leslie. It is also, as far as I’m concerned, one of the ultimate challenges in photography. At each wedding, I am the landscape, architectural, still life, portrait and, most importantly, documentary photographer. Each of these types of photography is a specialty and I have to do them all and do them all well. Oh, and there is a time limit. Just talking about it, I am getting excited to photograph the next one!
Okay, about me. I am in my mid-thirties, very happily married and the father of three living in the Seattle area. I love books and photography. I majored in journalism and photojournalism. I shot my first wedding when I was 18 and still in high school. I believe there is nothing more beautiful than the way a couple that is in love looks at each other. |
