hi everyone,
My name is Jesse Chatham and I’m the founder of photographik. I’m 34 and I live in a 106 year-old home in the beautiful Potter Highlands neighborhood in Denver, Colorado with my wife, Julie, and dog, Maggie. I spent a rather idyllic childhood in a small town called Lyons just north of Boulder. I spent my adolescence in the South: Macon, Georgia. I moved back to Colorado when I was 21 and eventually graduated from the University at Colorado in Boulder with an English degree.
As of this writing, I work almost exclusively from my home office over looking 32nd Avenue. My office is a short walk from my bedroom and thus my commute to work is quite short. My professional background is rooted in web design, Search Engine Optimization, content development and online strategy. Prior to founding photographik, I worked in the dot-com and technology world (like so many others at the time) during the boom times of the late 90s and the earlier part of the new millennium. I am a happy ex-corporate refugee and love the challenges and rewards of operating my own business as I’m quite sure most of you understand (you’re photographers, after all!).
My love for photography started during my initial foray into web and graphic design and has since increased exponentially. I would be quite remiss if I did not mention the person who furthered and greatly enhanced my exposure to, and appreciation of, great photography: my wife, Julie Harris.
Julie has been a full-time wedding and portrait photographer since 2003. And, of course, she loves what she does and couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
When I’m not working—which isn’t often these days—I enjoy eating at good restaurants, going to movies, playing my guitar and writing songs, reading (big fan of 19th century Russian Literature—especially Dostoevski and Tolstoy) and enjoying excellent conversation late into the night with friends and new acquaintances (with wine or Scotch or other “spirited” beverages in hand).
What else? I’d like to publish a novel one day and have it made into a movie. And I’d love to finish renovating our home too. These old homes are always in need of something and, unfortunately, I am about as handy as a beach towel in a blizzard! My wife loves to travel and I’d like to get into it too some day. I guess I’m sort of a nester. I like the comfort and convenience of home. Nevertheless, I know that if I could get over the inconvenience of traveling, I’d probably have a wonderful time.
